The 2nd Wuling Mountain Area (Xiangxi) Tujia and Miao Cultural and Ecological Protection Festival kicked off in the Hand-waving Hall of Furong Town Scenic Area, Yongshun County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture on the evening of June 8.
In the beginning, 12 national intangible cultural heritage (ICH) inheritors, 17 provincial-level ICH inheritors, and special guests appeared at the ICH red carpet show. The network recommenders, Internet- famous ICH inheritors, and network promotion ambassadors of the Tujia and Miao cultural and ecological protection area in Wuling Mountain Area (Xiangxi) were presented with appointment letters.
The festival kicked off with the passionate Miao drum dance. Subsequently, Tujia instrumental music performances such as Daliuzi, Dongdongkui, Tima song, and copper bell dance were staged, presenting the lively scene of “Bifzivkar’s Festival”.
Besides, Tujia Shangliang songs and dances, Miao embroidery dances, Tujia and Miao folk songs, Chenhe high-pitched tune, Yang opera, and ICH rock songs were performed in turns, showcasing the rich emotions and simple life of the Tujia and Miao people.
The Miao martial arts performance, Miao painting scene performance, and festival folk performance were also presented, containing the wisdom of Xiangxi folk culture.
The Wuling Mountain Area (Xiangxi) Tujia and Miao Cultural and Ecological Protection Area is one of the first seven national cultural and ecological protection areas in China. This event showcased the construction achievements of the area in the past five years. There are now fixed ICH training bases, a large number of inheritors, regular ICH activities and a good inheritance environment in the area.
